This position is remote capable within Argentina.

Database Administrator

The database administrator (DBA) manages and ensures the availability of the databases that store all produced and consumed data by Flexiti’s IT systems. The DBA ensures that our databases run efficiently, and that data are available to approved users and secure from unauthorized access. The DBA will also lead or contribute to capacity planning, installation, configuration, database design, migration, performance monitoring, security, troubleshooting, as well as backup and data recovery.

What you will be doing:

  • Analyze database performance including determining bottlenecks, optimizing queries, indexes and transaction rates and tune as required for optimal performance.
  • Manage indexes, statistics, query plans, alerts, database activity and overall performance activity
  • Create and monitor fault tolerant database jobs across hundreds of integration points
  • Recommends solutions by defining database physical structure and functional capabilities, database security, data back-up, and recovery specifications.
  • Represent data teams as part of change management and release process
  • Identify potential database problems and utilize the appropriate tools and methods for resolution and implementation.
  • Contribute to migration of client data into our database and related QA
  • Collaborate with various departments to develop new, and optimize existing SQL code to ensure optimal application performance and a positive-end user experience
  • Enforce best practices for database design, performance, and security, including user management and database access
  • Optimize and improve data and system security through encryption and other emerging technologies
  • Ensure the data integrity of the platform by optimizing and testing backups
  • Maintains documentation on current configuration of servers and databases for all environments (development, test and production)
  • Build and maintain database disaster recovery plan and related documentation
  • Provide 24/7 emergency support for the SQL platforms

What you should have:

  • 5+ years of experience in Database Administration
  • Extensive knowledge of MSSQL, MongoDB, Postgres and related tools
  • Advanced knowledge of and experience with installation, configuration management, maintenance, replication, high availability, security, back-up and recovery procedures for relational database management systems
  • Experience in planning, designing, implementing and maintaining databases.
  • Strong knowledge of Visual Studio, Team Foundation Server/Azure DevOps, JIRA Software, SOAP/XML, REST/JSON
  • Expert understanding of ETL and ELT and hands-on experience with SSIS, SSRS (development and admin experience)
  • Experience with Windows Server environments, powerShell and Unix shell scripting skills
  • Detail orientated with good organizational skills.
  • Working knowledge of AWS Cloud (RDS)
  • Python, Scala & Spark experience are an asset
  • Experience with version control software
